The compressor converts pages to images and re-encodes them into a new PDF. This is effective for reducing size but converts text to images — if you need searchable text, keep an original copy. For best results, choose a moderate target (e.g., 150–300 KB) for multipage documents and try scale 0.8–1.0 for initial attempts.
- Processing happens locally in your browser — files are not uploaded.
- Very small targets may produce noticeable quality loss.
- Large multi-page PDFs (many pages) will take longer and may need higher targets.
- If you need transparent elements or vector graphics retained, this method will rasterize them (convert to image).
